Local pub league

Post by Mabbsy » Mon Aug 18, 2014 9:15 am

Our team are rock bottom of our league this summer and deservedly so.
Got promoted to the A league after last winter and the difference has been the finishing, in the B league we regularly got a second chance but not in the A, ces't la vie !

We were away last Friday and knew the oppo would be decent , I turned up first and was met by Kirk Shepherd demolishing everyone on the practice board, not what the doctor ordered with us rock bottom of the league, thankfully he vanished before the match started as he was playing for another team in the D league, all very strange !

Swindon has some very decent players but I didn't know he was also resident in these parts !

True story :D

Yeah plenty of times, not seen him for a while though.
Had a few close games with him over the years but always lost :(

Took part in a local summer league (singles) for the past few weeks. Only went to 5 out out of the 12 nights and qualified for the finals of the shield section. (I'm a lazy bastard I am!)

It was a round robin format with 5 of us at a board.
Lost my first match 3-0 to my team mate Graham. Won my next 3 games in a row, 3-1 3-0 3-0, which put me in the semifinals.

Won my semi final 4-3. Was lucky in the last leg as Joe missed a dart at the double to win.

To the final and who was I meeting only Graham again.
This time my darts were going well and I took the final 5-2.

Thanks to the lads in the Nenagh and district darts, and especially Padraig for running such a great competition.

Well done to Stephen on winning the outright competition on a scoreline of 5-3.

One year I got a bike for my birthday. So I went peddling off down the road and knocked an old lady down.
'Can't you ring your bell?' She said. 'I can ring my bell,' I said 'But I can't ride my bike'

ask him next time you see him and tell him to feed the dogs crushed tomatoes, stops the build up of lactic acid on their joints and makes them run quicker.

In fact tell smithy to eat it as well , might quicken that fucker up as well

What format do you play?

Found out Wednesday that the league we're in plays 8 singles, 4 pairs and 8, all best of 1 leg

That sounds awful.

We play 4 a-side 3 legs 701, 2 pairs 3 legs 501 then 4 singles 3 legs 501, 21 legs in total all legs count, a decent format.

Last but one match of the summer league tonight thank goodness.

P15, W1, L14, not our best season.

Beer will flow at a good pace as normal though :D
