Each Euro Tour has become like a mini World Championship, interesting. It says the 16 top players on the ProTour get seeded to round 2 and will need to win a game to get the money on their OoM totals, but nothing about the other automatic qualifiers, I take that to assume that anyone else who automatically qualifies will get the money on their OoM totals?
I hope it was just an omission in the wording. Last year the 2 invited Home Nation players didn't earn ranking money if they lost in the 1st round. So any player, whether a seed or not who didn't go through a qualifier had to win a game to earn ranking money.
Sounds like they're doing away with that and just going back to having a qualifier for all 4 spots, unless they've been really sloppy

A friend of mine is into cuckholding.

I'll have to ask her if she fancies Matt Porter.

So the qualifying rules have changed but you still have to win your first game to get the ranking money for the 16 seeded players. Should lead to very strong fields. The downside is Wright and those on the slide have more of a chance to maintain their higher rankings

I do admire your ability to wind up Mason.

You manage to do so without even trying.

If you get in on merit (top 16 pro tour) your prize money is not protected

If you get in based on being Matt Porter's crony (top 16 OoM but not top 16 pro tour) your prize money is protected

Especially as now the seeds will face better opponents as the overall quality increases.

Imagine Wright beating a German qualifier in the first round and then a seeded player has to play Wright knowing the clown's money is guaranteed but his is not.

Fucks sake. It's ridiculous.

European Championship now will just have 30 out of the top 32 players pretty much

The Crow wrote: Sun Jan 07, 2024 10:28 pm Not a good change just 10 spots from qualifiers also doesn’t help new TC holders in terms of qualifying for tv events. Protecting the top 16 even further is not a good move.

Also assuming it moves down OOM should somebody decide not to play from top 16? Surely this will just make it even less likely the top players will bother with many PC events now. They only really need it for PC finals qualification nowadays.
I don't think it's the new tour card holders who are most fucked over by this, because it's arguably easier for them to qualify, instead of only 16 of the top players not being in those qualifiers, there are 32. There will be 2 more tour card holders in each event now, it's the associate members, whose 2 spots have been removed, who have been fucked over most IMO
True though personally (I think I’ll be the minority) I never really liked the two associate qualifying places. The main reason for the Challenge tour should be to win TC’s that why only giving 2 spots to it is a joke that needs to be resolved. At least 16 winning cards minimum IMO and maybe 4 from Development tour.

For me this would be perfect

Top 16 PT OOM (Seeds)
25 TC holder qualifiers
4 host nation qualifiers (only allowed to qualify for 4 events to stop some German non TC holders having easier routes to the EC).
1 Nordic and Baltic (as above 4 events maximum)
1 East Europe Qualifier (as above 4 events maximum)
1 Iberian/South Europe qualifier. Seems it unlikely they will be heading to these areas for a ET anytime soon Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Gibraltar plus the 4 micro nations not that I expect the Pope or a billionaire from Monaco to enter. (As above 4 events maximum)
Team Corvid 2024 consists of the following 12 players.

Clayton, Cross, Gilding, De Sousa, Dolan, Evans, Campbell, Krcmar, Lauby, Puha, Szaganski and Turetta

Don't like this change

- Same fields over and over
- Harder for players to go on runs from nowhere to make majors
- Makes the TC Qualifiers a waste of time
- Ruins my lists

However, it means Clayton and Joyce are in every single event and Barney stands a great chance of making every major now.

The floor events have become infinitely more important.

Positives of the change

- No more freebies for host nation players- Clemens, Schindler, Pikachu especially. It will be infinitely harder for them to make majors if they fall out of the 32.

- Better standard on Fridays.

- The AM Qualifiers were a bit of a joke anyway. Barely anyone showed up at them. That could've been mitigated by holding them on CT weekends though.

- The 10 players from the Qualifiers should be different every time. Like you'd expect the likes of Littler, Woodlouse, Jimbob (if he wants to) etc to clean up now but we should see more of the newer or more obscure faces.

- The 16 PT OOM places rewards those who perform on the floor. The likes of Joyce, Van Veen and Pikachu will now be thoroughly rewarded for a stellar end of 2023 by having the opportunity to play every Euro Tour in 2024 if they want.

The huge improvement on a Friday will be the biggest bonus, also toughter 1st games for the OOM seeds might lead to a couple of more changes in the seedings. Still unsure of whether I like the changes or not
