Just read up about it.

I actually like the concept in theory.

A concept always is theoretical, mate.

Good old backlund. Loved it when he entered the rumble in 2000

Diesel beating him for the title was an orgasmic moment.

Bob was great as a heel in 94, but his in ring work peaked in the late 70s and early 80s.

I consider peak Backlund to be one of the best workers in WWWF/WWF/WWE history.

+1, tremendous baby face of that era, massive box office draw and great worker. A true legend.

Agreed

Bob was awesome at working holds. I hate long bouts as a rule, but his 60 minute bouts with Inoki and Valentine, which both contain a ton of matwork, are perfectly watchable. He even worked holds with Dusty and Hogan, giving both arguably the best bouts of their careers in the process.

He could work brawls too. His cage bouts with Slaughter and Patterson are both fantastic.

What makes it even greater is the fact that Letterman wasn't in on the whole act.

Lawler was very patient at first. Maybe because of some edging practice?

Just a tremendous professional, if the king was into edging it definitely wasn't solo

I swear I once heard Lawler say that Kaufman also didn't inform his family that the feud was staged.

Kaufman was a great comedian.
Died way too young (unlike Robert Fico, I might add).

Lawler was gold, played the part perfectly.
