That’s the one I was playing that I could get to work on my modded PS2 earlier this year
I used to play 1 back around 97
The object was to do well at club level then you were offered the England job eventually. You couldn't just choose to manage England at the start.
I'd played about 25 seasons and never been offered it
Then someone told me if you clicked England and put your name as Kevin Keegan you could be England manager on day one.
Ffs

Did you not have internet in 1997?
Or access to the Internet at all to look up the cheat codes?

OR, not go into the newsagents or a supermarket and look at the cheat magazines they used to publish?
I had archaic dial up which was a waste of time especially if someone made a call.
I never imagined there would be cheat codes for a football game
Cheat codes for most games back in the day
They spoil the fun really
I spent literally months on one single scene on broken sword
The minute you are stuck you get a cheat code it's pretty pointless

I get what you’re saying but if you’ve been stuck for ages and want to get to the next part of the game, I don’t see too much harm in skipping over a level or whatever the cheat code might actually do

Depends if you can avoid the temptation of the code straight away.
The scene I was stuck on in broken sword I'd still be stuck now without cheating

They’re both good and bad
And they’re not really a thing nowadays with modern games

Be fair, Hitler also didn’t complete his mission either.

When did the game come out?

Likely way too early for YouTube back then

Infant stages of the Internet, so definitely no YouTube

I imagine there still would have been walkthrough guides in the gaming magazines
There was in the early 2000’s, despite the steady rise of walkthroughs being published on the net

Amazing to think that 28 years later, Bezos has created this absolute juggernaut
