First game for a new team
Was in the doubles only tonight. We lost the first pairs but took the second. I was in the 3rd pairs. Breaky (my partner) was hitting everything but I wasn't hitting much and though we had 5 darts at tops (I had 2) we lost the first leg. 2nd leg we both started hitting the scores and I hit D18 first dart whilst they were still in the 200's. Similar story 3rd leg but whilst they hit 140 to leave themselves 48, I hit T10, S20, D10 for a 2-1 win
We won all the singles meaning we won 8-1 overall. I played a small part but given we had a bye last week, very good result

Played my first ever game for a darts team tonight. Was called up last minute after a cry-off and low and behold i was first match on! Won 2-1, Couple of tons and 60's here and there. After losing the first leg with some shite doubles rallied to win the next two.
Team lost overall 5-3!

Re: First game for a new team
I am trying to avoid drinking that much whilst playing! Just the one bottle of beer before i played tonightSnakehipsx2 wrote:Match practice is the most important thing, no good just throwing them at the board in your kitchen / bedroom / living room / drawing room / study. I also recommend drinking heavily as often as possible too.lyallers_YNWA wrote:Yeah felt good to get a win! Re: First game for a new team
Well, I got my chance in the singles and grabbed it with both hands. 2 20 dart legs. Doesn't sound great but I'm over the moon because a) the guy I was playing can be very hard to beat and b) I was down to less than 100 after 15 in both legs. Team lost 5-4 which took the shine off it a bit.
Little annoyed as the captain turned round and said if the 2 from last week played we would have won 7-2. If they had turned up it mean 2 of us (including me) wouldn't have played and I won both singles and pairs so not sure where he got that scoreline from. Not sure why that's annoying me, the guys who didn't turn up are very good players but can't see how they would have fared better than the side that did turn up.
The opposition were class and we all said before the game this will be 5-4 either way. Just happy to play my first singles game and win and play well. Long may it continue

Thanks guysSnakehipsx2 wrote:Your captain sounds like a cunt tbh, apart from that well played.
#NB He might have meant you'd have played anyway because he knows how good you are.
I wouldn't have played mate as the 2 in question won last week and I only played in the doubles so they would have played instead of me.
I'm just happy to have won and played well especially given how poorly practice went lol

Do you do a look to the skies Barney style celebration or a quick cross when you win?

Or a down on knees Hernandez style prayer before the game?

Re: First game for a new team
lol neither though I do normally say a quick prayer before I play. My celebrations are pretty low key. I take the darts out the board, shake my opponents hand, thank the chalker then chat to the team about the gameD & B wrote:Dartfrog wrote:Do you do a look to the skies Barney style celebration or a quick cross when you win?
