TDF sports betting syndy
Putting this out there, see if members would be interested in seeing if we cant get this off the ground.
Members would be invited to buy into the syndy at a share price of £10 per share. Max amount of shares would be 5 shares (£50)
Events to start us off would be the euorpean champs 2012 this June.
Would be a private members section on the forum, where you post your thoughts and ideas for the bets that you think shud be placed.
EG
Dicie and sprocket
Sprocket buys in 4 shares £40 Dicie buys in 1 share £10
Kitty stands at £50
Max bet is 10% of the kitty so in this case £5 max bet
After each event (final of the euros) we see what we have won.
We have won £50, making the total in the kitty to £100, we then cash out, and it is divided on a shares bought ratio
So Sprocket would get £80
Dicie would get £20
This can work with as little as 2, and up to 10 people in each group. (any amount of groups is possible, and people can buy into more than one group if they like)
So the idea is out there folks. If your interested i think we shud aim at having all money in and transfered to an appointed handler by May 14th. Leaving us plenty of time for discussion on our bets for the first round of matches in the euors.

Re: TDF sports betting syndy
Whn we cash out, we should leave the original buy in amounts in the syndicate to keepmit going.
Thus if we win £50 at Euros making the kitty £100, we only cash out the £50 winnings.

Re: TDF sports betting syndy
Sounds fair, leaving a balance to be broguth forward for the same users/members of the syndy to attack the next sporting event.

Re: TDF sports betting syndy
This should be an ongoing syndicate rather than just for single events.
As new people buy in, the amount we leave in the pot will rise allowing us to increase bet sizes.
We should agree right now though that only profit is divvied out until such time when the syndicate closes - which it hopefully won't.

Re: TDF sports betting syndy
I am currently looking into getting a Betfair account for this syndicate. I am self-excluded from the site however, I have contacted them about looking into getting this reversed.
If this is possible, then I am happy to offer myself as the account and money holder.
My idea is that people send their investment to one of my bank accounts (I will send you the Sort Code and Account Number) and then I will deposit the funds into the Betfair account.
Dividends will then be transferred back to investors on a three monthly basis.
This requires trust on all sides and I give my word that everything I do with the Betfair account will be screenshot and placed on this forum.
All betting records and transactions can and will be provided on request and indeed, the password to the Betfair account will be available to all investors.
Thoughts?

Yes, im happy with this. We do need a betfair account, it is where the value is to be had for football and other sports.

Do you not have a PayPal account? Easier & safer to get the money maybe? Just a thought.

I thought about this but there are fees with Paypal. I'll go with the majority view though.Knots & crosses wrote:Do you not have a PayPal account? Easier & safer to get the money maybe? Just a thought.
I'm not sure you can deposit to Betfair with Paypal and if this proves to be the case, it adds another level of transferring which incurrs fees.

As I said, there has to be trust. The numbers will be transferred privately and the bank account will be a new one that will exist purely for this venture.

Re: TDF sports betting syndy
A member has asked for an example of how things would work out.
So at present we have £120 in the pot.
Max bet is £12
Bet suggested by Sprocket to put the £12 on backing bolton.
Sprocket has 5 votes for bolton, i disagree and knots wants to back bolton, so thats 7 votes for backing bolton and 5 against, so it is
£12 win Bolton today
