Taylor only managed it once.
Littler needs to win something of note at least once 1st
You would think so. And there's a distinct possibility he will but won't be a world champion given the timeline.

It's 2024
If its a public vote he probably doesn't need to win anything

Looking at the others in the betting stakes he could actually win it. Lando Norris for fecks sake what has he done.

It elevated the attention the game received.
Sports personality etc
First sentence applies for MVG also.

One of the reasons why 2015-2018 was a "golden age" as Barrs and Adi put it.
Virtually any version of Taylor and that period mvg are head and shoulders above today's elite
Perhaps not the early 90s or post 2014 versions of Taylor.

I agree otherwise.

Not made full use of the best car in F1 this season?

But F1 fans adore him and he still has an outside shot of winning the WDC.

I wouldn't automatically assume that version is "head and shoulders" above Humphries.

Better? Probably

Some good showmanship here. Not just because it's in a smaller venue but the walk out lasses, the flags. Closest thing I've seen in ages was the African stuff over the weekend. They were loving it going mental.

Twat Porter and some of the new intake seem perfectly content to have a nickname a walk on song and then just play darts. No razzmatazz or bombast. Some of the players would prefer BDO-esque silence. The game will grow for a bit but ultimately go to pot if that carries on. Same old shit olly and those terrible final boards of the BDO wanted.

Darts had more charm in the 90s and 00s imo. Today's PDC is too overly-produced. For example, compare Sky's naff intro today to the great intro they had in the 90s and 00s. The smaller Tavern and lax narrow entrance way could never be reproduced today, but they did not half make for a great atmosphere, far preferable to the one at Ally Pally.

Regarding the BIB, I actually think interest in the UK was already declining before Littler emerged.

To many darts (with the same faces) to keep it interesting, you just need Lakeside, Dutch Open, World Masters, International Darts League and World Darts Trophy. Thats it: 5 tournaments.

Don't disagree with any of this. Darts was more fun in the 90s and 00s, but so too was Football and Cricket. But i enjoyed that walkon

PT13 made an excellent point about the Tavern a few years ago.
PT13 wrote: Thu Nov 25, 2021 7:44 pm From the 1990s darts world, I miss the old atmosphere most. That rowdy, working class atmosphere in low roof buildings like the Circus Tavern, but weren't the mass booing on finishes like today. The feeling when coming up to a Circus Tavern World Championship was special. It was a very different feeling to today. Today it's more sanitized somehow, less personal, less cosy, but it does have better depth in quality.
I will add that as rowdy as the Tavern crowds were during entrances and between sets, they at least all watched the games and the songs they sung during games were actually relevant to the players competing.
