"Pre-qualified players from the PDC and PDC Pro Tour Orders of Merit who lose in their first match of the event shall not be credited with prize money on any Order of Merit. A player who qualifies as a qualifier, but later becomes a seed due to the withdrawal of one or more other players shall be credited with their prize money on all Orders of Merit regardless of how far they progress in the event."

This helps a bit ranking wise, but the top still has a hug advantage. IMO first round losers should never get ranking money at any tournament, and if you have players going into the second round directly then there probably should be no ranking money for the first 2 rounds. But you should probably need a points system instead of a money one. Uncle Barry says people want an easy system with every pound going on the ranking, but people usualy don't have a clue what the prize money is, nor do they now what it was 2 years ago. A points system thats the same for years is a lot more clear
