Re: The Trials and Tribulations of Team Malt
Masters Summary:
Searle - Embarrassing first round defeat to Dirk
Smudger - Bottled a 5-2 lead against the champion
Cross - Went out first round, can't even remember who it was against, he played alright though
Aspinall - Made a semi final playing way off it.
Looking forward to the pro tours where O'Connor, Beaton, Joyce, Lennon and Edhouse all come in to begin their seasons

Re: The Trials and Tribulations of Team Malt
Pro Tours 1 and 2 round up
Rob Cross - 2 defeats in the last 64, obviously poor from an elite player
Nathan Aspinall - defeated in the last 32 and last 16, some solid performances mixed in with some weaker ones, ok couple of days
Ryan Joyce - defeated in the last 64 and last 16, keeps up picking up cash and playing pretty well, but bad defeat to Owen
Ross Smith - defeats in the last 32 and last 64, would expect better from him, averages were low by his high standards
Ryan Searle - Lost a last legger to Littler in the final on day 1, playing incredibly. Day 2 he makes the final again! Beaten by an inspired Gando. Definitely star of the show, 2 finals is a brilliant way to start the year
Steve Lennon - Last 128 defeat and then a last 32 defeat, not the worst of starts at all
Willie O'Connor - Last 128 defeat then last 64, pretty crap
Ritchie Edhouse - Lost 1st Round both games, no good
Steve Beaton - Last 64 defeat then loses in Last 128 to vile Gawlas. Vile vile vile
Mario Vandenbogaerde - 2 last 64 defeats, decent numbers, if you cash every tournament it's solid for a low ranked player
Mixed results overall, roll on the Euro Qualifiers tomorrow. Very crucial events to qualify for for the lower ranked players in the team

Re: The Trials and Tribulations of Team Malt
Not a good return in the ET qualifiers, with only Lennon qualifying for ET2.
Cross, Aspinall, Searle, R Smith and Joyce will be in the event though so that's something.
Though in the soft spot squad De Zwaan managed to get into ET2, pleased to see him get through as he's struggled for a long time
For the seniors I would like to see Durrant, Hendo, Burnett and Mason do well. Even though Mason is a wanker.
Roll on PC3 & 4

It was a stinker of a group by normal standards but he did well. The Thorn wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 9:17 pmFair enoughTheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 9:16 pmHe won a week at Modus after not playing anything competitive for years

Re: The Trials and Tribulations of Team Malt
Round up of the most recent pro tours and euro qualifiers, pretty happy with the start to the season by the players I support
Rob Cross - Lost in the L128 twice, which is obviously terrible. He looked ok in the Prem but it's been a slow start
Nathan Aspinall - L128 and L64 defeats, all low 90s. Concerning of course but Thursday night in the Premier League did show he's turning a corner, making the final and played well
Ryan Searle - made his 3rd final in a row on the floor and this time won it, he always starts the year well but possibly playing better right now than he ever has, insane standard, finally defeated in the L16 of PC4 with a 109 average!
Ross Smith - L32 and L128 defeats for him, not making much of an impact yet but hes playing okay, could have a good UK Open
Ryan Joyce - L128 and L64 defeats, not good but he was on like an 11 game L128 win streak, annoying as well that hes pulled out of ET3 and ET4, valuable ranking money lost for no reason
William O'Connor - L32 and L128 defeats, inconsistent as always, did qualify for a euro tour though which is great stuff
Steve Lennon - The forum darling lost in the L16 and L32, started the season nicely and even averaged 110 against MDD which was an insane game, promising signs for Scuba
Ritchie Edhouse - Qualified for both euro tours which is great going with the new format, hes started pretty well, losing in the L16 and L64, regularly cashing is promising
Steve Beaton - Two 1st round defeats and no Euro Tours, sad times for the great man but he's still competitive
Mario Vandenbogaerde - Lost in the board final both days, good start to the year for my favourite Belgian
Other players I like: Mansell qualified for the ET and continues to play well, Scutt made finals night in Modus but didnt get through his group, think he will play there a lot this year and should win one. Sex Factor didn't manage to get to finals night in Champions Week but was really unlucky, played decent, and about 7 Maltese players played in Slovakia in the WDF, exciting times for Team Malt!
