Re: Boxing
Ppv has killed boxing as a major sport
The proliferation of belts hasn't helped either
The days of the general public even knowing who the elite fighters are are long gone

Re: Boxing
I am sticking with my prediction of Usyk to win on points.
However I have a sinking feeling that Fury is going to win. Mostly because he tends to rise to the occasion for his biggest bouts (Wlad in 2015 + Wilder rematch in 2020)

I will say Fury on points.
I am not expecting a great fight and I have a feeling it will be controversial.

I suspect there will be some shithousery going on. I just sense this will be a fight that will be close and split opinion with the scorecards.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 9:46 pmIn what regard?HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 9:44 pm I will say Fury on points.

Cant see how Uysk wins personally absolutely zero chance he knocks Fury out and I'm not sure how he hits Fury enough to win on points

Re: Boxing
It was seen as a big deal at the time. Nobody anywhere thought Holyfield won or drew that fight.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 10:12 pmThat decision was a disgrace.HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 10:11 pm I remember Lewis v Holyfield 1 when there was a

The rematch was closer but Lewis still won ( i went to that fight)

Re: Boxing
Eh?
Usyk gives Fury a lot of issues on paper.
Fury has struggled with southpaws in the past (Wallin), Usyk is difficult to tie up and establish a jab against, Usyk also has the speed and skill to keep Fury turning and dart in and out.
Fury also has ways to win of course. I do not expect an easy night for either.

There was even a documentary about it on BBC IIRC.

Re: Boxing
Fury's performance against Ngannou concerns me. Then again, it was a while ago but I feel like I recall not being too impressed with Usyk in his last fight also. Fury has to slow down eventually, it may be true he was purely complacent against Ngannou but it could also be the case he's just no where near as sharp as he used to be.
I like to bet on the big fights but I don't think i'm touching it, i can't call it

Re: Boxing
Fury was slowing before the Ngannou bout. He didn't look that great against Chisora (who was shopworn). He was especially poor against Ngannou, who also had the ability to rough up in the clinch, something previous opponents did not have.TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 10:36 pmFury's performance against Ngannou concerns me. Fury hasn't lived the life over the years, pilling on weight and then having to lose it. It is therefore very possible that he has simply slowed down and his reflexes are not what they used to be.

If people think Uysk can win they should be backing him on points at 2/1 as like i said above I just can't see how he can knock Fury out. If he can't knock Chisora and Joshua out how is he knocking Fury out.

I can't see Fury stopping Usyk either. Usyk has a great chin. Yes, he is vulnerable to body shots, as Joshua showed in their rematch, but he recovered very well and then adapted after he was hurt.

Re: Boxing
Fury has always been inconsistent.
The questions now are has his body simply aged this time and/or is Usyk simply a terrible style match-up for him?

Like I said above for Uysk backers 2/1 on points or 3/1 by unanimous decision if a bit braver look the better value than evens just to win
