Nothing gives TDF a rosier glow than an announcement of an announcement.

More prize money, he gives it away at the end. Hopefully it means the small tournaments get a boost, rather than eleventy million to the next world champ.

minimum income of 20k, if players play, so some might comee from from first round losses in PT

I know that exists in snooker (probably more because match-fixing is a bigger problem on the snooker tour than it is in the PDC), but it would go against everything Hearn stands for lolwillem0000 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 11:29 pm minimum income of 20k, if players play, so some might comee from from first round losses in PT

Yeah doesnt work real nice if I think about it, you can't give 20K without requirements (because bad players from far away will just stay at home after winning a card and collect the money), but if you give it thru first round losses, it would also mean that the well earning players get it. The big thing will be the Worlds I think, which will see a big increase in participants and prize money. Could be 1 million DOLLARS or something like that.thegentle wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 11:37 pmI know that exists in snooker (probably more because match-fixing is a bigger problem on the snooker tour than it is in the PDC), but it would go against everything Hearn stands for lolwillem0000 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 11:29 pm minimum income of 20k, if players play, so some might comee from from first round losses in PT

Fix Grand Slam, Euro Tour and the fucking shitty rulebook with pages of contradictions.

They're going to make the Worlds prize money completely ridiculous, i think £1 Million to the champion is coming very soon.. how much will that filter down to the other events i'm not so sure. I'm very open to it growing to silly levels but only if the rest of the tour goes along with it. I don't want the other majors to become afterthoughts for the elite players. Forgetting the elite, I hope the rest of the tour gets benefits from the growth of the game too. The recent decision making worries me in that regard

Also a Paul Linwood enjoyer

List of PDC contributions to the game of darts
1. Removing alcohol from the game
2. Winning that best sporting event award each years
3. Bahrain, Saudi, Gibraltar sports washing

In a recent interview with Barrs Barry came accross to me like 1M pound wasnt going to happen, but it could be that he just didnt wanted to say it. But that is a lot of money, especially if lower places also grow, which seems likely as both Barry and Porter have hinted on more players being able to make a living from darts in the near future. Apart from a bit more status I don't really see the need for such an increase. To get all the best players wanting cards again, and foreign players from far away doing the tour (or taking it serious so they will do good at the worlds and popularize it in their countries) it probably makes more sense to increase PT and Worlds prize money for the lower levels.TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 1:03 am They're going to make the Worlds prize money completely ridiculous, i think £1 Million to the champion is coming very soon.. how much will that filter down to the other events i'm not so sure. Barry must be hating it that they have to share gambling money. Can see it happening that they start their own, or buying SS
Who was the BDO player that years ago said that the BDO should do something like the super series? Could have saved the proper side of the game

Sadly I can't find the map.
Super Series of Darts 2011
The International Darts Players Association (IDPA) and World Digital are pleased to announce the launch of a brand new and exciting series of Professional Darts Tournaments for 2011.
James Halliday of World Digital says:
"Its great to be finally announcing the innovative Super Series of Darts which will provide the professional players within the BDO/IDPA/WDF systems an opportunity to compete and develop at the highest levels of open competition.
We can now confirm that we are finalising the first season schedule that will consist of 11 monthly Tournaments which will see the top BDO/IDPA/WDF players compete in front of both a live audience and relayed globally through Digital Distribution bringing the sport of darts direct to audiences and darts fans regularly”
“It will create a new and regular series of mid-week events on a monthly basis throughout the year, generating not only more prize money, but also increased exposure and prestige for both the sport and its professional players to a global internet audience. This has always been the key objective of our partnership with the IDPA and I am delighted that it is coming to fruition for 2011”
Full coverage of the Super Series of Darts will be available both live and on-demand through a number of internet partners, with highlight packages also being planned for broadcast through a number of media channels.
The World Digital/IDPA partnership is also pleased to announce that darts fans will be able to keep up to date with all the action on a FREE-2-VIEW platform, providing more darts content than ever before.
Martin Fitzmaurice, CEO of the IDPA says:
"The IDPA Super Series of Darts will be staged with a seeded structure and players will earn points through a results bases system. 2011 will represent the first season and the IDPA will select the initial seeding based on calculations across IDPA, BDO and WDF rankings and all Tournaments will be played within a matchplay format
“Needless to say, everyone within the IDPA is delighted that we are presenting this brand new series with World Digital for the benefit of IDPA, BDO and WDF players, and more announcements will be made in the future.”
Venues for the Super Series of Darts will be spread around the UK with Lakeside being confirmed as one of our hosts.
Bob Potter Proprietor of the Lakeside Country Club says
“We are proud to be involved with this new series of dart events and look forward to having the stars of the IDPA/BDO/WDF here at the Home of World Darts.”
Further announcements shortly.
